GSOC FOR BDS

GSOC membership voted to endorse the BDS movement in solidarity with Palestinian workers and students. 66% of voting members approve our call for divestment and the closure of NYU Tel Aviv, and 57% pledged to support academic boycott of Israeli institutions.

In November 2015 NYU graduate student workers published an open letter to their union, GSOC-UAW 2110, and fellow union members calling for the union to heed the call of Palestinian workers to boycott, divest and sanction the state of Israel. This initiative endorses the broader NYU campaign NYU Out of Occupied Palestine.

Their letter called on GSOC-UAW 2110 to hold a referendum on the issue of joining the BDS movement. A vote was held in mid-April 2016, and passed by a 2 to 1 margin. The ballot can be read here.

Over 300  graduate student workers at NYU have signed the letter.
